2022 APGO FDS
Workshops and Round Tables

Abstract Submission Instructions

There is one abstract form for both workshops and round tables. Applicants must note their preferred presentation format in their submission. The Program Committee will determine the official presentation format for each abstract, and the author will be informed of that choice when the abstract is accepted.

The APGO community is committed to the elimination of systemic racism and the resultant disparities in health care and the learning environment. As you develop your submission, please consider and plan to specifically mention how your contributions may be applicable in this regard.

Presentation teams cannot be hybrid. In other words, all presenters in the team must attend the meeting in-person to present sessions.

Each presentation should employ active learning, maximize group activities and discussions, and should not be solely lecture format. Abstract topics should reflect the program theme and be pertinent to undergraduate medical education, although other education-based topics may be considered. The goals should be to provide participants with new knowledge and/or proven techniques and tools that will enhance teaching and learning experiences at their home institutions or enhance participants’ professional development as educators.

Workshops will have a minimum of two presenters and a maximum of three presenters. Round Tables will have a maximum of two presenters per topic. At least one author of each presentation must be an APGO member. Any student or trainee authors must be paired with an APGO faculty member.

Each presentation team will be asked to rank their preferred presentation format.

There is one abstract form with the following options:

  • Workshop (up to 75-min): In-person presentation. Includes live Q&A with in-person and virtual attendees; in-person breakouts and virtual breakouts are allowed but cannot be combined; maximum of three presenters. All presenters must attend in-person meeting to present.
  • Round Table Groups (60-min per group): In-person or virtual small group discussions. Each abstract team (maximum of two presenters) will have 20 minutes to present. Includes live Q&A with virtual attendees. There may be as many as three abstracts presented in each 60-min small group. Abstracts will be grouped by themes.
  • New Session Type (20-40-min): Pre-recorded video suitable for on-demand, virtual-only viewing; no FDS attendee participation; maximum of three presenters.

Abstract Format:

  • Title (maximum of 100 characters including spaces)
  • Author(s)
  • This presentation is a _____________ project:
    • Single-institutional
    • Multi-institutional
  • Précis (maximum of 140 characters including spaces)
  • Abstract (maximum of 250 words)

    • Agenda (e.g., elements, structure, timeframe)
    • Interactive component(s)

Abstract authors will be able to select if they require a virtual-only option for presentation.

If your abstract is not accepted, and you are a first-time APGO author who would be willing to have the abstract considered for the POWER Program, please indicate this in the abstract submission form.
