The APGO SES Program is a nationally recognized program that develops confident professional surgical educators who are prepared to implement surgical curricula at teaching institutions across the United States. This 18-month course also strives to prepare participants to conduct multi-institutional research and validation of surgical education methodologies, which in turn will improve ob-gyn health care. Graduates of this program will be prepared and expected to fulfill major surgical educational responsibilities and positions within their medical centers. The SES Faculty Advisory Committee serves as both faculty and advisors to scholars during each cycle of SES.

APGO is currently seeking a new Vice Chair to serve as a co-leader of this program, along with additional faculty to join the Faculty Advisory Committee effective April 1, 2025. The next cycle of the APGO SES Program will begin in September 2025.

Vice Chair application deadline is February 1, 2025.

Additional Faculty applications are being accepted on a rolling basis.

Committee Structure
The SES Program Advisory Committee is comprised of physician educators who are considered national leaders in surgical education. The members of the Faculty Advisory Committee are solicited from the APGO membership and affiliated organizations.

The Program Chair and Vice Chair collaboratively oversee the activities of the Faculty Advisory Committee.

Application Process

Interested applicants apply for the SES Faculty Advisory Committee through a competitive application and interview process. Faculty appointments are subject to review and approval by leadership, including the APGO President.

  • Cover Letter that includes the following:
  1. Why you are interested in this position
  2. Ability to structure time for participation so that a commitment can be made to serve for a minimum of four years
  3. Experience as a mentor for junior faculty
  4. Summary of major surgical educational responsibilities
  5. Summary of APGO participation and/or other volunteer or leadership involvement
  6. A summary of educational scholarship completed or in progress, highlighting any surgical educational scholarship
  7. The names, titles and contact information of four individuals, including two mentees, who may be contacted as references
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Letter of Support from Chair or comparable executive
  • Additional Letter of Support (optional)
