Workshops

The submission deadline has passed.

Abstract Submission Instructions

The APGO community is committed to the elimination of systemic racism and the resultant disparities in health care and the learning environment. Presenters are encouraged to consider and plan to specifically mention how contributions to the 2024 FDS would be applicable in this regard. Presenters must follow the APGO Educational Guidelines for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and adhere to the Checklist for Curricular Materials for Faculty Development Seminar Speakers.

The APGO FDS is a fully in-person meeting with no options for virtual or hybrid presentations or attendance.

Each presentation should employ active learning, maximize group activities and discussions, and should not be solely lecture format. Abstract topics should reflect the program theme and be pertinent to UME, although other education-based topics may be considered. The goal should be to provide participants with new knowledge and/or proven techniques and tools that will enhance teaching and learning experiences at their home institutions or enhance participants’ professional development as educators.

  • For Workshop submissions: If my abstract is not accepted as a Workshop, please consider it for a Round Table presentation. I understand the different format, requirements, and setup for FDS Round Tables.
  • For Workshop submissions: I am a first-time APGO author/presenter, and I would like to be considered for the POWER Program.

My abstract should be considered under the following sub-theme (choose one):

Personal and Professional Development: Revealing Our Sparkle and Shine
Abstracts submitted for this sub-theme should focus on bread-and-butter medical education topics, the building blocks, the scaffolding of UME, and the development of faculty/resident teachers to thrive in all their roles as educators, mentors, advisors, coaches, team leaders, etc.

Curricular Innovations and Improvements: Embracing the Prism of Possibility
Abstracts submitted for this sub-theme should focus on out-of-the-box, creative, innovative, transformative approaches to UME in any area. Examples include, but are not limited to, faculty development, curricular change, UME-GME transition, assessment tools, etc.

Opportunities and Challenges: Cultivating Clarity Under Pressure
Abstracts submitted for this sub-theme should focus on approaches to cultivating a positive learning environment by proposing solutions for difficult UME challenges. Examples include innovative approaches to difficult feedback, grading disputes, mistreatment, and discrimination, etc.
