The Academic Scholars and Leaders (ASL) Program, now in its twenty-sixth year, is a national, longitudinal faculty development program of the Association of Professors of Obstetrics and Gynecology (APGO). The ASL program provides faculty with the opportunity to grow and acquire the skills critical to advancing as teachers, education program administrators, and leaders. The curriculum uses an evidence-based approach to support learning objectives in instruction, assessment and feedback, curriculum development and evaluation, leadership and professional development, and educational scholarship.

The fifteen-month program is designed to train faculty with the following objectives:

·      Consider education a scholarly pursuit

·      Improve the quality of education and educational leadership in the specialty

·      Introduce faculty to educational scholarship through coursework and a project

·      Enhance academic advancement of participating faculty
