APGO Copyright Policy
Effective January 1, 2025

General: The Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics (“APGO”) is the sole owner of all right, title, and interest in and to all APGO printed and electronic resources and all subsequent versions/modifications thereof (“APGO's Copyright-Protected Materials”) including all copyright rights. APGO’s Copyright-Protected Materials include, but are not limited to:

• APGO Basic Science Videos and Teaching Scripts
• APGO Effective Career Development Series
• APGO Effective Preceptor Series and Companion Videos
• APGO Effective Student Advising Series
• APGO Essential Clinical Skills Checklists
• APGO Medical Student Educational Objectives
• APGO Undergraduate Web-Based Interactive Self-Evaluation (uWISE) and APGO PrepforRes Online Self-Assessments
• Career Development in Academic Medicine: Your Journey to Success
• Clerkship Directors Annual Survey
• Modern MedEd, an APGO Original Podcast
  

APGO’s Copyright-Protected Materials may be purchased individually and used for personal and/or teaching/learning purposes, which includes printing/photocopying for distribution in a physical or virtual class setting (collectively, “Educational Purposes”). Any retyping, alteration, copying, reproduction, distribution, or other manipulation in any way is strictly prohibited and in violation of APGO’s exclusive copyrights granted to APGO by the United States Copyright Act.

APGO’s Copyright Policy does not allow for the posting of any of APGO’s Copyright-Protected Materials on third-party websites or in printed materials.* The information discussed in APGO’s Copyright-Protected Materials changes regularly, resulting in new versions of APGO’S Copyright-Protected Materials as new research is done and new techniques are developed. The only way to ensure that you are using the most up to date information and that the information has not been improperly altered is to access APGO’s Copyright-Protected Materials directly from the APGO website. APGO also tracks the usage of these materials through the statistics that are produced when individuals access them online. Medical students have free access to some of these documents through the APGO website so medical students may be directed to the APGO website for the use of these materials.

APGO’s Copyright-Protected Materials may not be used by any third-party, including other non-profit and for-profit enterprises, without expressed written consent in advance from APGO.

Furthermore, advanced written permission from APGO is required for use and/or modification of APGO’s Copyright-Protected Materials, including for example in a third-party project or paper.

Before beginning any projects or papers using APGO Copyright-Protected Materials, contact the APGO office, in writing, for permission.

Any project, paper or course that uses APGO’s Copyright-Protected Materials with the advanced written permission of APGO, must acknowledge APGO in the project/paper/course as the sole owner of APGO’s Copyright-Protected Materials used in the project/paper/course, and the materials must be presented as they are and not changed in any way, including that APGO’s copyright notice must be retained on every page.

Specific:

*APGO Medical Student Educational Objectives:

1. APGO members may print the APGO Medical Student Educational Objectives PDF for personal and non-commercial Educational Purposes. The PDF may be photocopied for teaching purposes, but may not be retyped, altered, or otherwise manipulated in any way. The APGO Copyright Notice must not be removed or altered and APGO must be acknowledged in all photocopied material.
2. Online APGO Medical Student Educational Objectives PDFs may be printed out, copied, and utilized as is for personal and non-commercial Educational Purposes by APGO members, but may not be retyped, altered, or otherwise manipulated in any way. APGO must be acknowledged in all photocopied material.
3. The online fillable PDF of the Objectives may be printed out, copied, and utilized as is, for personal and non-commercial Educational Purposes by APGO members, but may not be retyped, altered, or otherwise manipulated in any way. APGO must be acknowledged in all photocopied material.
4. The online PDF Teaching Cases may be printed out, copied, and utilized as is, for personal and non-commercial Educational Purposes by APGO members, but may not be retyped, altered, or otherwise manipulated in any way. APGO must be acknowledged in all photocopied material.
5. Medical institutions may at their own risk use the APGO Medical Student Educational Objectives, companion teaching cases and logbook and may copy them in whole or in part to their official online learning platform. By copying the APGO Medical Student Educational Objectives and/or companion materials the medical institution acknowledges that (1) APGO is the sole and exclusive owner of all right, title, and interest, in and to the APGO Medical Student Educational Objectives and companion materials, including all copyright and other intellectual property rights; (2) the medical institutions are receiving only a nonexclusive license that may be revoked at any time by APGO at APGO’s sole discretion and without prior notice to the medical institutions; (3) it is the medical institutions’ responsibility to regularly check the APGO website for any updates to the APGO Medical Student Educational Objectives and companion materials and to copy the most current version of the APGO Medical Student Educational Objectives to the medical institutions’ official online learning platform as authorized herein, to remain consistent with the APGO Medical Student Educational Objectives; and (4) APGO is not responsible for the medical institutions’ use of the APGO Medical Student Educational Objectives or ensuring that the content copied onto the medical institution’s learning platform is up to date.
6. The online videos of the APGO Medical Student Educational Objectives may be viewed on the APGO YouTube channel but any copying, altering, reproduction, or distribution on third-party websites or otherwise is strictly prohibited and doing so is a violation of APGO’s exclusive copyrights granted to APGO by the United States Copyright Act.
   

APGO Online Self-Assessment Programs
APGO uWISE and APGO PrepforRes may be viewed online as is, but any copying, altering, reproduction, or distribution on third-party websites or otherwise is strictly prohibited and doing so is a violation of APGO’s exclusive copyrights granted to APGO by the United States Copyright Act.

APGO Undergraduate Web-Based Interactive Self-Evaluation (APGO uWISE)
The APGO uWISE online self-assessment may not be used to create specialized tests within an institution. APGO uWISE questions, answers and feedback may not be printed, copied, altered, reproduced, distributed, or utilized in any way other than in their present online format.

APGO Preparation for Residency Knowledge Assessment Tool (APGO PrepforRes)
The APGO PrepforRes online self-assessment may not be used to create specialized tests within an institution. The PrepforRes questions and answers may not be printed, copied, altered, reproduced, distributed, or utilized in any way other than in their present online format.
