Discussion Den Presenters

Welcome to the Information Page for the 2025 CREOG & APGO Annual Meeting Discussion Den Presenters!

PRESENTATION FORMAT:
The Discussion Den format is a 50-minute session led by 1-3 facilitators that is designed to present a topic or idea that creates dialogue and discussion with the audience. As the presenter you will lead and guide these discussions. The idea is to create an opportunity to brainstorm and share challenges, experiences, and ideas in a smaller setting of 25 – 40 participants.

AV PROCEDURES:
There is no audio/visual set up for this format. A flip chart and markers will be provided in your assigned room. You may bring your own laptop to show visuals and you can print out and bring your own handouts for attendees.

PREPARING YOUR DISCISSION DEN:
Tips for a successful group led discussion:

  • Introduce yourself and give an opening statement to acquaint the audience with the nature and purpose of the session
  • Verbally disclose any financial relationships with commercial interests
  • Discussion Dens should be engaging. Know what you want to ask of your audience
  • Focus on facilitating the discussion by asking open ended questions
  • Minimize lecture time
  • Clearly summarize the key outcomes and next steps
