Marianne Poe
APGO Deputy Director, Development
How long have you worked at APGO?
I have worked at APGO for 11 years.
How is the work APGO does personally meaningful to you? / How is APGO’s mission personally meaningful to you?
As the daughter of a high school teacher and a nurse in an ob-gyn office, my interest and affinity for teaching and the medical field came naturally. Witnessing the magical moment when someone “gets it” is transformative. The fact that I work for an organization that provides resources and support to ob-gyn educators who make these moments happen every day is a gift.
What is the best part of your workday?
I love that no two days are the same. My work is very project-based. My favorite part of the day happens when any one of those plans comes all together.
What APGO project (that you have worked on) are you particularly proud of?
I have two: the 50th Anniversary and ASL 20th Anniversary Capital Campaigns. Shepherding these two campaigns to fruition against some measurable odds and witnessing the amazing generosity of our members and friends was a profound and personally rewarding experience.
What is your favorite APGO meeting location?
It’s a tie: Hyatt Regency Aruba and Eau Palm Beach
Coffee or Tea?
Team Coffee all the way – dark roasts – comforting and rich, earthy smokiness, dark chocolate, fair trade, small batch. Done right, it’s contentment in a cup.
Hulu or Netflix?
Amazon Prime! The last thing I binged? The Durrells in Corfu. So sweet and funny and (yet another) well-done British drama-comedy.
Dogs or cats?
I love other people’s pets! I shower them with love, feed them, spoil them with treats and toys and then happily wave good-bye when they go home!
