APGO Statement on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

June 2021

The Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO) is committed to increasing awareness of systemic racism and other forms of oppression and discrimination with the goal of eliminating disparities for learners and the larger community.

APGO promotes an environment of respect, fairness, integrity, and inclusiveness. The APGO community includes members, leaders, learners, meeting attendees, registered guests, vendors, exhibitors, speakers, staff, volunteers, and all others who interact with the organization.

APGO respects and values the diversity of its community. It is essential that APGO fosters the ability to provide training to future physicians that inculcates diversity, equity, and inclusion in a welcoming and supportive learning environment, promoting equity in healthcare for all.

APGO is committed to the success of its members, volunteers, leaders, and learners, seeking diversity in lived experiences and expertise to maintain an equitable, inclusive, and welcoming community.

APGO encourages all to reach out for information on mentorship opportunities, ways to get involved or to share new ideas. The enthusiastic participation of the APGO community will ensure that it continues to be the leader in obstetrics and gynecology medical education and faculty development, in alignment with the goals of the organization.
