The APGO Educational Modules on Responsible Engagement with Industry is an update to the 2014 APGO Interactions with Industry modules. These modules were developed to support APGO’s Industry Relations Policy, which was adopted by the APGO Board of Directors in 2012.
Medical students and residents are the intended learners for the modules, which can be completed over time on a self-paced schedule or used in small or large group settings with faculty facilitation. Each module includes didactic material, a discussion guide with case studies and key points, and quiz questions to support achievement of the module’s intended learning outcomes.
Intended Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the modules in this program, learners will be able to:
- Understand the function of for-profit companies and their contributions to clinical care, research, and education.
- Define the phases involved in drug and device development and discovery in the United States.
- Recognize and define situations where conflicts of interest may occur in physician-industry relationships.
- Identify organizational policies and other professional resources to navigate questions around physician-industry relationships.
