Eligibility: Current APGO members; may join at time of application. Must maintain an active APGO individual membership for the duration of the course

Application Schedule and Procedure: The call for applications opens every other year in January with an April deadline.

Please have the following prepared to upload with your online application. Please save all documents together as one PDF.

• A cover letter describing your personal goals and objectives for this course (limited to two pages, double-spaced) indicating why you would like to participate and how you intend to use the knowledge and skills gained from this experience. Note: This is different from the personal statement in the biosketch form.
• A biosketch (NIH Format) detailing past educational experience;
• Completed and signed Statement of Department Chair Commitment and Support 
• A separate cover letter from your chair stating what they expects the value of your participation will be to your university or institution

Once you upload your documents, you will be directed to pay the non-refundable $75.00 application fee.

All applications must be completed and submitted electronically. Faxes and hard copies will not be accepted. If you do not submit all of the required components, your application cannot be considered.

Notification: An APGO selection committee comprised of Surgical Education Scholars Program leadership, faculty and other APGO leaders will review and rank the applications. Scholars will be notified of the disposition of their application on/about May 9, 2025.
